XX Giornata del Contemporaneo
On the occasion of the twentieth edition of the event, CONTEMPORALIS presents 3500 cm², a project celebrating its twentieth anniversary this year. 3500 cm² is a project for the dissemination of contemporary artworks curated by Lorenzo Benedetti. The title refers to the square centimeters made available to an artist to create a 50×70 cm poster, whose mission is to spread the language of contemporary art to a broader and more diverse audience beyond the traditional art public.
On Tuesday, October 15, CONTEMPORALIS also organized a conference on contemporary art at the Italian Consulate in Paris, moderated by Maddalena Labricciosa, RAI journalist and art expert for TG1. The conference featured Lorenzo Benedetti, co-director of the Fondazione Ratti Art-Lab and creator and curator of the 3500 cm² project; Marinella Senatore, artist; and Diego Cibelli, artist, connected via live streaming from Naples. On this occasion, posters by the Italian artists Marinella Senatore and Diego Cibelli were distributed free of charge.
Diego Cibelli was born in Naples in 1987, where he lives and works today. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples before moving to Berlin, where he graduated from the Weissensee Kunsthochschule. After five years he returned to his hometown and obtained a degree in Product Design from the Vanvitelli University. His artistic research has always explored humanistic geography, understood as the study of territories, their histories, and the sense of belonging that human beings develop toward them, generating new living spaces. Through the activation of a series of cultural and visual references, Cibelli constructs scenarios composed of different sculptures. These are conceived as a set of tangible and intangible relationships between human beings and landscape, as a kind of habitat. The outcome of each investigation is therefore an organic system of objects subject to material and conceptual transformations derived from their connection with people in everyday life. Since 2015, each research project has developed through three key concepts: encounter, relationship, and dialogue, exploring how people can create a sense of connection with the surrounding landscape and inspire one another to evolve.
