MARCO PALMIERI X CONTEMPORALIS

On the occasion of the the traditional Pandoro & Panettone, CONTEMPORALIS presented the work of Marco Palmieri through a selection of artworks on view from December 2025 to March 2026. A convivial moment, held in the presence of the artist, inaugurated the exhibition. During the event, special panettoni were also presented, packaged in an artist-designed metal box – Limited Edition 2025, decorated with a motif conceived and created by Marco Palmieri himself.

In his work, Palmieri conducts an investigation into space, explored in its many dimensions through different series of works. Each series develops a spatial idea that is examined through the continuous mutation of its constituent elements. The use of color holds an equally strong and meaningful role in his research: it serves to highlight the variations of each element, considered as the bearer of a precise meaning. Seriality, moreover, allows these variations to unfold over time, much like the progression of a text. Themes return cyclically, and time becomes an integral part of the artistic experience.

Palmieri thus performs a kind of prosaic stripping bare of the scene: by removing filters and ornaments from the environment, he seeks to verify whether the core of what remains still retains a complete meaning. The use of watercolor, a technique outside of time, ultimately places the work within a dimension of continuous present.

Architect and artist Marco Palmieri (Naples, 1969) lives and works in Milan. The last assistant of Ettore Sottsass, he has developed a personal research practice that ranges from photography to watercolor, characterized by a recognizable visual language where chromatic sensitivity meets formal rigor.

In 2008 he inaugurated his first exhibition of watercolors at Galleria Antonia Jannone in Milan. This was followed by several solo exhibitions: in Paris at the Galerie du Jour – agnès b., in Naples at Castel dell’Ovo, and in Miami at Art Basel, in the Collectors Lounge of Sanlorenzo Yacht.

He has also participated in numerous group exhibitions, including at the Galleria Nazionale d’Arte Moderna e Contemporanea in Rome, the Triennale di Milano, the PAN – Palazzo delle Arti di Napoli, Villa Belgiojoso in Merate (LC), the Galleria Studio La Città in Verona, as well as in other institutions.

Since 2022 his work has also been represented by Paola Sosio Contemporary Art. Among those who have written about his work are Giacinto Di Pietrantonio, Elena Pontiggia, Antonio Calbi and André Magnin, who recognize in his research a meditation on space as a condition of being and a place of the spirit, where measure, perception and color merge into a silent balance.
