MORGANE PORCHERON
In-Edita 3.0
CONTEMPORALIS supported the participation of Morgane Porcheron in the third edition of In-EDITA, a residency programme at Forte Marghera in Venice dedicated to young artists and curators. Through this collaboration, the association contributed to increasing the visibility of the French artist, allowing her to present her work beyond national borders.
Inspired by the writings and reflections of Yona Friedman, Gilles Clément and Emanuele Coccia, Morgane Porcheron’s work investigates the impact of nature on human constructions and highlights the living force that nature exerts, particularly within urbanised landscapes. During her residency at In-Edita 3.0 in 2023, Morgane Porcheron focused on the surroundings of the studio space at Forte Marghera, an environment rich in vegetation and historic pavilions. Polaroid photographs were taken and various elements were collected: plants, bricks and waste materials. The artist later associated some of these found objects with the photographs.
The work produced during the residency resulted in the exhibition Unearthed / Dissotterrato at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, Sala del Camino / Giudecca, Venice – a group exhibition dedicated to the act of finding or uncovering something that has been hidden or lost. To unearth a secret.
Morgane Porcheron, born in Lyon in 1990, lives in Paris. She began her artistic training at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. After graduating in 2013 from the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts de Toulouse, she took part in an exchange programme in Shanghai at the Offshore School founded by Paul Devautour in 2014. She later completed her studies at the École des Beaux-Arts de Paris, where she obtained her DNSAP in 2016.
Her work has been exhibited in France, notably at the Louvre Museum (2017); La Grande Halle de la Villette, the CROUS Gallery, Un-Spaced Gallery and during the Festival of Art History (2018); the Abbey of Saint-Martin in Laon and the La Piscine Museum in Roubaix (2019); the Chevalet Gallery in Noyon and at 24 Beaubourg (2020). She has also exhibited in China and Mexico.
